Mayfield Heights Man to be Sentenced for Soliciting a Child for Sex
Varun Trivedi is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday for soliciting a child for sex.
The Mayfield Heights man convicted of soliciting a child for sexual activity is scheduled for sentencing Thursday Aug. 15 in Cleveland.
Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators chatted online with 26-year-old Varun Trivedi between Dec. 22, 2011, and April 26, 2012, posing as a 12-year-old girl. He was arrested on April 26, when he expected to meet the girl.
Trivedi was found not guilty of more serious charges of attempted rape and attempted kidnapping, as well as three more counts of importuning and a count of possession of criminal tools, according to the court's online docket.
He faces up to 10 years in prison. His sentencing is set for 9 a.m. in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge John Sutula's court.
