The man was taken into custody and transported to Hillcrest Hospital after he was hit by a truck on U.S. Route 422

A man is accused of stabbing three Golden Gate Villa residents early Labor Day morning.

One of the victims told police that Matthew Cepik, an Iraqi War veteran, stabbed his girlfriend, her mother and family friend just before 5 a.m., according to our partners at WEWS Channel 5.

Mayfield Police began searching for Cepik shortly thereafter and notified Solon officers that a signal from his cell phone indicated he was in the area. Solon police said Cepik intentionally ran in front of westbound traffic on U.S. Route 422 and was hit by a box truck, driven by a 30-year-old from Maple Heights. The freeway was closed for three hours.

Solon Police previously found the white Kia Optima Cepik had been driving on Harper Road and began searching a wooded area with K-9s from Solon and Glenwillow.

The victims and Cepik were all transported to Hillcrest Hospital. The mother and daughter were listed in stable condition as of Monday evening, and the male family friend was in critical condition.

Cepik was also in critical condition.
