Highland Heights Fire Declared Accidental

Nobody was hurt in the blaze that caused $275,000 in damages.

The Highland Heights Fire Department declared a house fire that caused $275,000 in damage to be accidental.

The fire took place on the afternoon of June 23 at 1018 Millridge Road. No one was hurt, but the fire caused a roof collapse and necessitated that firefighters battle the blaze from the outside.

"We believe the fire started outside of the house,” Highland Heights Fire Chief William Turner said, according to a Sun News report. “The fire burned the vinyl siding and then cellulose insulation. The fire quickly spread to the eves and into the attic area prior to the fire department’s arrival."

A woman who was asleep made it out of the house safely. The Mayfield Heights Fire Department was among those that helped fight the fire.
