Grandmother's Tip Helps Prevent Best Buy Theft

The following information was supplied by the Mayfield Heights Police Department

Grandmother helps police: A grandmother provided a tip that helped prevent the theft of a popular game console from Best Buy.

The woman called Best Buy on July 5 to say that she overheard her grandson tell a friend that planned to go to the store to steal something. The boy made it to the bathroom with a Playstation 3, but he ended up leaving it on the floor.

Mayfield Heights Police ended up transported the boy back to his grandmother's house. This was the second incident involving the young man and a Mayfield business in two days. On July 3, police said he was attempting to sell a stolen backpack blower and chainsaw near O'Reilly Auto Parts. He was also turned over to his grandmother that night.

Driveway theft: A man called police at 8:12 a.m. July 6 to report that items had been stolen from his 2013 white Jeep, parked in his Eastwood Avenue Driveway.

The man said he may have left the car unlocked. Stolen items included his wallet, which was found empty on the sidewalk.
