Fire Damages House on Robley Lane in Mayfield Village

Residents alerted by detectors purchased in village program.

smoke detector purchase program paid off for Robley Lane residents during a fire on Tuesday.

"Two elderly residents and their son live there and they all got out," Lt. Mike Girbino of the Mayfield Village Fire Department said. "Three of the four smoke detectors in the home were bought in the village's program. The residents said that's what alerted them to the fire."

Girbino said the fire started at 11 p.m. Tuesday and was confined to a family room in the back of the house and the kitchen. Cause of the fire has not been determined and there is no cost estimate of the damage yet.
