Driver Strikes Utility Pole: Gates Mills Police Blotter

The following information was supplied by the Gates Mills Police Department.

Incidents reported in late July:

Driver snaps pole: Brigham Road was shut down for about nine hours late last month after a driver struck a utility pole.

A 19-year-old male from Mayfield Heights hit the pole just after 4 p.m. on July 22, according to Gates Mills Police. The pole snapped and blocked the roadway. Utility workers made repairs to the power line during the closure.

The driver was cited for failing to maintain reasonable control of his vehicle.

Fireworks again?: The urge to set off fireworks kept hitting some residents well after the Fourth of July.

Police asked a Foxhill Drive resident to stop setting off fireworks on July 24 following complaints from a neighbor.

No soliciting: Gates Mills Police reminded a 22-year-old from Cleveland that the village does not allow soliciting.

A Gatewood Oval resident told police the young man was trying to sell products just before 2 p.m. on July 27. The man agreed to stop soliciting after talking to police.
