Crash on Old Mill, Trailer Strikes Gilmour Tree: Gates Mills Police Blotter

The following information was supplied by the Gates Mill Police Department.

Incidents reported May 29-June 1:

Crash on Old Mill: Gates Police were called to the scene of a two-car crash at 11:18 a.m. on June 1 on Old Mill Road. 

No injuries were reported. An 18-year-old man was cited for failing to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.

False alarms: Gates Mills Police got a pair of false alarms May 29 and 30 when an officers responded to reports of gunshots and a crash involving a truck at Gilmour Academy.

At 8:10 p.m. May 29, a Gates Mills Estates Drive resident called police after reportedly hearing gunshots. Shortly after arriving, an officer determined the noises were fireworks being set off just past the Chester Township border.

The next day, a trailer belonging to a truck driving along SOM Center Road struck a tree on the school's grounds around 1:38 p.m. The trailer had become disconnected from the truck and veered off the road to Gilmour. There were no injuries in the incident.
