Group Shoots Fireworks at Another Child: Mayfield Heights Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Mayfield Heights Police Department.

Incidents reported Aug. 1-2:

Dispute with fireworks: A woman on Longwood Drive told Mayfield Heights Police that a group of older children shot fireworks at her son around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 1.

The incident happened as the caller's son was walking home.

A responding officer discovered that this had been an ongoing issue and asked the parents of the children to work the issue out.

Mysterious motorist: A Sunset Road resident called police at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 1 to report a mysterious man driving up and down the street.

The caller said the driver of a red Chevrolet Cavalier appeared to be looking up and down driveways on the road for about two hours. A responding officer checked the area, but was unable to locate the man. The caller was advised to contact police again if he saw the man again.

Dangerous road work: A woman complained to police Aug. 2 that she felt unsafe on Algiers Drive with road crews working around 3:45 p.m. that day. She said she was almost struck twice.

Police told the woman that work signs were visible and a lane was blocked, but that response did not satisfy her. Instead, she suggested having an officer out to flag traffic.

An officer soon checked the area and felt that it had a normal traffic flow. However, after another complaint, two flaggers were sent to the area.
