Cepik Pleads Not Guilty to Labor Day Stabbings

Matthew Cepik's bond was set at $1 million and his pretrial is scheduled for Sept. 19.

Matthew Cepik pleaded not guilty to charges related to the stabbing of three people early Labor Day at Golden Gate Villa.

According to the court docket, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Robert C. McClelland set Cepik's bond at $1 million Monday morning. His pretrial is set for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 19.

Cepik faces 11 charges, including:

  • Three counts of attempted murder
  • One aggravated burglary charge
  • Six counts of felonious assault (two for each victim)
Police believe Cepik stabbed his former girlfriend, her mother and a family friend on Labor Day. He fled to Solon, where police say he ran purposely ran onto Route 422 traffic and got hit by a box truck.
