Mayfield Village Police Will Host Handgun Safety/Concealed Carry Class

The course consists of both classroom education and live-fire proficiency exercises on the police department's shooting range

The Mayfield Village Police Department is offering a handgun safety and concealed carry course for village residents on April 6 and 7.

Those who complete the course will receive a certificate that can be used to apply for a Concealed Carry License through the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office.

"Under certain circumstances, the Ohio Revised Code allows for adults 21 and over to carry handguns concealed on their persons," Police Chief Richard Edelman said in a statement on the city's web site. "As the Police Chief, I am committed to your safety, and as such, I believe it is my responsibility (and that of the police department) to ensure that this is being done safely and in accordance with the state law."
