Highland Heights Resident Makes Push for MLB Contest Votes

A Highland Heights resident and avid Cleveland Indians fan hopes to make a late push for votes in a Major League Baseball competition that could land him in Arizona for spring training and New York City to chronicle games.

Jonathan Levey is one of 50 finalists from across the country vying to be a part of the MLB Fan Cave, which consists of an event space in New York's Greenwich Village and a popular website that leverages social media networks to produce fan engagement through videos, blogs and a concert series with popular musical acts.

"The reason I applied for the Fan Cave was because I have always been
a passionate fan of baseball, been a loyal Indians fan my entire life
and I saw this as an opportunity to get back into baseball," Levey said in an email.

Each applicant has designated their favorite team, and all 30 are represented in pool of 50. The MLB will whittle the group down to 30 finalists based on fan voting on MLBFanCave.com, the quality of their original web-based submissions and campaign buzz.

According to the MLB, the 30 winners will travel to spring training in Arizona to participate in a slew of contests that will determine a final group of "cave dwellers." Those winners begin the season in the MLB Fan Cave in New York with a goal of watching all 2,430 MLB games while detailing their experience through videos, blogs, and social media. People will be eliminated throughout the season until one eventual winner is crowned before the end of the 2013 World Series.

Levey said he was thrilled to make it to the top 50, though that was not necessarily unexpected.

"I was definitely happy that I made it, after all of the hard work and
dedication in writing the essay and producing the video," he said. "I was not
totally surprised, though, as I was very set from the beginning that my
goal was to make the top 50."

Voting concludes Wednesday at 5 p.m. on MLBFanCave.com.

"People should vote for me because I’m a fellow Clevelander and I’m
the most loyal Indians fan," Levey said. "It’s a dream of an opportunity to be in the MLB Fan Cave and to represent the city of Cleveland and the
Cleveland Indians.”

According to the MLB, baseball stars, actors and musicians like Bryce Harper, Chase Utley, Kate Upton, Nas and LMFAO have all made appearances at the Fan Cave.
