Critter Corner: The Western Reserve Kennel Club Show

Event saw 955 dogs take to the ring

The annual Western Reserve Kennel Club show was held at the polo fields this weekend in Moreland Hills. The typical August heat was held at bay by clear skies and cooler temperatures. There was a wide variety of dogs from affenpinschers to xoloitzcuintli. You could hear them bark, smell the fresh grooming products and look into the bright and shining eyes of the contestants.

The ribbons proclaimed winners of many different classes. If it's true that "Every dog has its day," then Saturday was an auspicious day for many. You didn't have to be Best in Show to win the love and care of your owner.

Breed-specific journals and AKC magazines covered the top dogs in each category. Here, however, you'll find some of the special moments for owners, handlers, dog lovers and dogs. Win or lose, it's a dog's life.
