Critter Corner: Happy Trails - Happy Tails

Monthly dog hike in North Chagrin Reservation brings dogs, people and nature together.

Lots of people take their dogs for a walk in the Cleveland Metroparks ; but once a month people and dogs get to socialize while enjoying nature. Jeff Riebe and his dog Kira lead a group through the paved and wooded trails.

The pace is moderate and everyone can go at their own speed. You can stop and smell the flowers, sniff the bushes, plunge into the water or just run ahead. It is an enjoyable time if you are on four feet or two.

There will be another dog hike from 1-2:30 p.m. on April 1, following a different route. Call North Chagrin Reservation at 440-473-3370  for more information. The only thing you need to bring is a leash for your dog and a waste bag.

No dog? No problem. Come for the hike and get to know people active in the adoption and fostering community. Next month you'll be walking proud, with your own pup.

Ash is currently being fostered, but looking for a forever home. For more information, contact Ohio Pet Placement.

Sammie Lou and I had a great time on the hike. Thanks to Jeff Riebe for organizing the event! Here's hoping Ash and Stealie find good forever-homes...both are beautiful dogs with fun personalities.

Thanks for writing Owen. It was so much fun to see all the dogs and people having a blast. Hope more people get out on April 1st and enjoy the hike again.
