On the Campaign Trail for Mayor of Mayfield Heights... Week 9

Getting my Message to the Residents of Mayfield Heights

Since I have had an opportunity to speak with so many different people throughout our community, I have started to assemble my Mayoral platform.  This is one of my thoughts that I feel will make our city a better place to reside, raise a family or own a business. Please feel free to contact me anytime with your ideas. I am here to listen and help, that my job as a public servant.

The residents keep stressing to me that the number 1 issue in our city is SAFETY: As the Mayor of Mayfield Heights I will also have the responsibility of being the Safety Director. Safety is the TOP priority in our city.  We are lucky to have a strong Police and Fire Department with competent, responsive, and resourceful Officers and Chiefs. As the current Chairman of the Safety and Transportation Committee, I have had the opportunity to work with both the Police and Fire Chiefs and find them both to be very responsive to the needs of our community. As a parent in the Mayfield Schools, I was the only parent to implement and serve on our Schools safety committee, working on a comprehensive plan to insure that our school children were safe at all times. I plan on making safety one of my top priorities as Mayor.

I will make sure that we will increase our man power, giving our responsive forces more opportunities to focus on the areas in our city that need to be considered top priority. Both the Police and Fire Chief are working diligently to increase not only community awareness, but working to have more community interaction. We will have programs such as the block watch program that includes many residents to keep our streets safe. The Fire Chief was awarded a grant that allowed them to purchase smoke detectors for the residents and works diligently to keep our homes safe at all times. We will work with the schools at all times to ensure that we are ensuring the safety of our school age children at all times.

Other programs that I would like to see implemented would include safety training programs for all residents to make them feel secure in our community at all times. Other ideas include better lighting for streets and paths, youth centers, safe houses for school age children and helping families that are elderly or have special needs be safe at all times. Another feature we would be offering security surveys to residents, where they can request that the police come meet with you at your home and make recommendations on how safe they feel your home is, and suggestions to make it even safer. Since I have always focused on Safety 1st, I would continue to make your safety my number one priority and I would truly serve as your Safety Director and not hire somebody else to implement the job.  Please remember, I am always available via my cell phone (216-780-5762) or email (Dfinneyiii@aol.com) to answer any questions or listen to your concerns. Most importantly, you have a friend in me!!
