On the Campaign Trail for Mayor of Mayfield Heights... Week 3

Week three of campaigning has been so exciting, making me "proud to be an American". I went down to the Board of Elections and filed my petitions, to actually run for Mayor of our city. I have to admit, I was proud of myself for obtaining so many signatures in such a short period of time. (469 signatures when I needed only 186).  The residents have been so great, inviting me into their homes and spending the time to talk to me about various issues.

Filing my petitions and knowing that each person has the right to serve their country makes me “Proud to be an American”. I hope you feel proud to serve your country and one of the ways you can help serve is to vote. Voting is so important; it is your right to decide who will represent you, who will actually run your city, state, country, etc.  My father taught me that voting was a true gift and it needed to be taken very seriously. I wish he could be here today to help me with my campaign, I think he would have been so proud of me for running for public office. I miss him so much!! You should be “Proud to be an American” and exercise your right to vote. If you do not have time to get to the polls on November 5th, please contact me and I promise to get you an absentee ballot so you can vote in your own home.  If you would like to speak to me or meet with me, please feel free to call me or email anytime dfinneyiii@aol.com or call my cell 216-780-5762.

I have so many ideas; so many thoughts on how I can work with you to make our great city even greater. More importantly, I want to base my Mayoral platform and website (www.finneyformayor.com) on your ideas and your needs. That is why my goal is to reach out to each resident and business owner personally.  Being that I lost my son Morris last November 5th, I have a large gap in my life and feel that I can truly dedicate myself to being the Mayor of the city that I love. Although I spend the majority of my day working hard as a City Council Member and serving the community, I still make time to play with my granddaughter and visit older residents that are ill and some that are hospitalized. Helping others has given me a purpose in my life. Well, I have a lot of doors to continue to knock on, so have a great week and feel free to call me with your thoughts!!
