In My Life - You Find Out Who Your Friends Are

Somebody's gonna drop everything Never stop to think 'what's in it for me?' or 'it's way too far' They just show on up with their big old heart You find out who your friends are

This past week was Thanksgiving and although most of us were so busy, thinking about cooking, shopping, eating or football,  we often forget what is most important in life – to be thankful for those in our lives that we love and the fact that we often forget to tell them how much we love them and appreciate their friendship and loyalty.

Unfortunately, we often take those who are closest to us for granted. I think that the book written by Mitch Albom, For One More Day, really gives a deeper meaning to relationships and unconditional love. It is a very short book and definitely worth reading.

Personally, I have so much to be thankful for this year. First, I am thankful to my children, I wish you love, good health and much happiness. I am thankful that you are in my life and that I was blessed to have three beautiful, good-hearted and caring children. My kids are always there when you need them and are the least selfish people I have ever met, which in my eyes in one of life's greatest achievements. I love all three of you.

My sisters are my past, they are the people that I can laugh with over the "crazy family" issues and our "one time" fun days. Dawn and Dena both lived the day to day life of growing up together –  of  having our sick parents and worse yet, cleaning the "dreaded playroom." I am thankful to you both and love you and wish you happiness and good health.

To my cousin Jodi, who is more than my cousin, she is my past, my "chosen sister." (If you need more detail, please contact Jodi but be prepared for a very long conversation – LOL) I know Jodi's stories so well that when she tells somebody her story I actually can correct her version – and I wasn't even with her at the time of the given incident. Jodi is the person that I called when my van rolled over and I was getting into the ambulance with my kids, or when you find a great deal at Walmart or a really delicious meal at a restaurant, you know, the important things in life. Jodi and I remember all the details of our childhood and reminisce about our past often. They say you can pick your friends, but not your relatives, but I would pick Jodi as my friend. I love you and am so thankful to have you as my friend.  Click here: Find Out Who Your Friends Are - YouTube

To my best friend Howard, my biggest critic and biggest encourager, and teacher of finance (even though you are not doing too well with me in that department...) You are my "person" and each and every day I am thankful to have you in my life. You have taught me so much about life and I hope I have taught you the meaning of unconditional love. You are the person who I depend on to hold my hand during the good times and way more importantly, during the bad times. Remember, I will always be there for you, even when you make my teeth grind – which is usually a reflection of you keeping the heat on so low my teeth chatter, LOL. I am thankful to have you as my best friend each and every day.

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

To all of my friends and relatives, (too many to name) some I have had known for many years, others that I have met along the way- I thank each and everyone of you for your friendship and caring and love. When I pick up the phone and need any one of you, I know you are always there for me. When you need me, I promise to be there for you! I love you all and am thankful to have you in my life!

During the holiday season, we often forget to reflect on what is most important in our life's (besides shopping, watching football and eating, LOL) and what we are thankful for each and every day. We are all human beings and make mistakes and often times it is hard to forgive others, let alone forget their wrong doings. I hope that when I do something to hurt any one of your feelings you give me the opportunity to make amends, because you must know in your heart that I would never hurt any of you intentionally. Happy Thanksgiving, In my life I love you all ...
