Video: Hillcrest Rotary Club Speech Contest

Third-place winner Ariel Burns of Brush High School

Speaker Ariel Burns of Brush High School won third place and $50 in the Rotary Club of Hillcrest/Rotary Club of Hillcrest-Sunrise speech contest. Ariel talked about showing equal acceptance of religious beliefs.

Hillcrest Sunrise Rotary Club President Mike Johns Jr. said the contest has been held for 30 years.

"They must use the four-way test to address a moral issue in their speech," he said.

The four-way test is: Is it the truth?; Is it fair to all concerned?; Will it build goodwill and better friendships?; and Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

On Tuesday, we'll present excerpts from the second-place speech.
