Panera Tentatively Set to Open Sept. 24 (Updated)

The new 4,000 square-foot eatery will include a drive-thru window.

Panera Bread announced a tentative date for its new Mayfield Heights location—Sept. 24.

Panera spokeswoman Jessica Cavaliere stressed that date could change, much like the previous estimate that the freestanding location would open this month. A combination of rainy days and several Panera openings in Northeast Ohio and across the country set the project back, Cavaliere said.

The staff at the current Mayfield Heights location at Golden Gate will move to 6036 Mayfield Road within a week of the opening to train in the new building. The 4,000 square-foot eatery will include a drive-thru window. It is being constructed on the property of the old El Rodeo restaurant.

Panera continues to use its Highland Heights restaurant to conduct interviews for an unspecified amount of new workers at the upcoming location.
