Hillcrest Hospital Receives Award for Being Environmentally Responsible

One of 22 given to Cleveland Clinic Health System

Hillcrest Hospital received a Partner for Change Award from Practice Greenhealth, a national organization for health care facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations.

The Cleveland Clinic Health System, which includes Hillcrest Hospital, received 22 awards.

Cleveland Clinic was named a member of the Environmental Leadership Circle, Practice Greenhealth's highest award. It recognizes health care facilities that exemplify environmental excellence and a setting the highest standards for environmental practices in health care.

Requirements for eligibility include meeting criteria for the mercury-free award, recycling at least 25 percent of total waste stream, implementing pollution prevention programs and providing leadership in the community.

To be considered for the Partner for Change Award received by Hillcrest Hospital, facilities must be recycling at least 10 percent of total waste, have a mercury elimination program in place and have developed successful pollution prevention programs.

The Cleveland Clinic Health System received the System for a Change Award, which recognizes systems that are working cohesively to gather data, set goals and share successes in environmental performance.
