Hillcrest Hospital Names Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Dr. Elliot Philipson has been named one of America's Best Physicians for five years

Dr. Elliot Philipson was named chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hillcrest Hospital. Philipson previously served vice chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology and site director of the Residency Program at Hillcrest.

He received the honor of being named one of America’s Best Physicians for the past five years, created an obstetrical simulation program and received a grant from the Sabrina Foundation for research in human pregnancy.

Philipson also served as director of Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Cleveland Clinic from 1995 to 2005. Philipson specializes in high-risk obstetrics and has been on staff with the Cleveland Clinic for 15 years.

He attended medical school at the University of Rome Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, completed his residency at Albany Medical Center in New York and his fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

He also received his master's degree in business administration from Cleveland State University last year.

In his newly appointed role as chair, Philipson will aim to promote, advance and expand the high quality of the obstetrical and gynecological services offered at Hillcrest Hospital.

Philipson and his wife Sandra live in Chagrin Falls. Sandra is an educator and author of a popular children's book series and runs a creative writing group for children at the Children's Hospital – Shaker. They have been married for 33 years and have two adult daughters and two dogs.
