Bites Nearby: Five Guys Burgers and Fries

It’s rare that a restaurant has most of their menu listed in their name, rarer yet is that the name rolls so easily off your tongue. Simplicity and getting what you want – fast – is the way.

Starting with the menu, there are only four food groups; burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and fries.

Burgers come in two sizes, “regular” which is a very large portion, and “little,” enough for most people for lunch. Sixteen toppings including ketchup, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, pickles and tomatoes, can be added at no charge. Your extras are added as you watch.

Hot dogs are starting to appear on menus, and Five Guys does them up right. Choose from plain, cheese, bacon or go all out for the bacon cheese dog.

Sandwiches are your only vegetarian or vegan option. They can load up a hamburger bun with all the extras, with or with out cheese. There are no veggie patties/veggie burgers in these sandwiches. You can also order a grilled cheese

Fries, a food group unto themselves, come in two sizes. Cooked in peanut oil, to enhance the flavor and to skip the cholesterol, they complement the other menu selections. Keep in mind that the large order can be a meal in itself. Want to kick up the heat and try something new? Then Cajun style might be for you. The fries are spicy, but won’t register on the Scoville scale. Traditional Five Guys style are also very tasty.

The last choice on the menu is drinks. Choose from regular soft drinks with unlimited refills, or bottled water.
