Mayfield Heights Councilwoman Announces Candidacy For Mayor

Donna R. Finney wants to be the city's next mayor.

She announced her candidacy through a statement this week. If elected, she would be the second female mayor in Mayfield Heights history, following Margaret Egensperger, who served from 1994 to 2005.

"Finney wants to maintain our outstanding city services and programs and implement new services and programs for our residents," the statement reads, "to even better serve the community's growing needs.

"She prides herself on helping every person possible and understanding his or her individual needs."

Finney, 49, has been a resident for three decades. She is in her second term as a member of Mayfield Heights City Council.

She is a former Mayfield Board of Education member and current president of the Hillcrest 100 and trustee of the Mayfield Regional Library Friends of the Library. She is also an active volunteer in the school district.

Current Mayor Anthony DiCicco stepped into office in February following Greg Costabile's resignation stemming from ethics violations.
