Mayfield Volleyball Team to Wear Pink, Support Breast Cancer Research

Proceeds from home volleyball games against Stow-Munrow Falls next week will support the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

For once, the Mayfield Wildcats aren't going green.

During the varsity, junior varsity and freshman volleyball games on Tuesday Oct. 1, the girls will wear pink uniforms in a "Volley for the Cure" event to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. All three teams take on Stow-Munrow Falls, starting with the freshman game at 4:30 p.m. at Mayfield High School's Wood Gym.

According to an announcement from the district, admission for adults is $6 and $4 for students. Pink "Volley for the Cure" shirts will be on sale for $10, which includes admission.

Other fundraisers during the games include a 50/50 raffle and a bake sale. Students have also been asked to pack the gym and wear pink.

The team has raised $12,500 for Foundation in the four years since it voted to take up the cause.
