Mayfield High School Has Three National Merit Semifinalists

Seniors Joseph Elhage, Hannah Goldstein and Thomas Milyo are among the nation's 16,000 semifinalists.

Mayfield High School has announced three semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship program.

Mayfield seniors Joseph Elhage, Hannah Goldstein and Thomas Milyo are among the 16,000 in the country who are semifinalists, according to the district's Facebook page. They have the opportunity to compete for 8,000 National Merit scholarships worth about $35 million.

Semifinalists are selected based on their 2012-2013 PSAT scores, which are the highest scoring in each state. Scholarship winners are expected be announced in early 2014.
