Patch Picks: 5 Camps to Send Kids to This Summer

This week, we select five camps to send the kids to this summer.

School of Rock offers a weeklong camp program in Highland Heights starting June 13. Camps run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Thursday and the week ends with a 2 p.m. show on Friday. Cost is $361.25 before April 2 and $425 after April 2.

Hillcrest YMCA has summer camp from June 13 to Aug. 19 with programs for students who have completed kindergarten to sixth grade. Fee is $125 per week. Open registration starts March 14.

Shaker Lakes Nature Center has Summer Outdoor Adventure Camp running June 20 to Aug. 18. There are a variety of camps for ages up to 15. Fees vary.

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History has Junior Medical Camps for grades three to five, six to eight, seven to nine and seven to 10. Cost is $225 for members, $250 for nonmembers. The weeklong program covers what it takes to become a medical professional and participants explore many career opportunities available in the medical field.

SuperCamp offers programs for students in sixth grade and up at Kent State University. The seven- to 10-day academic program teaches life-skill courses such as Communication, Problem Solving and Outdoor Adventure Day and learning skills courses such as Working With Your Brain, Write Like a Pro, Note Taking and Test Preparation.
