Grab & Go Kids Planner

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

 Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

 Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. We want to hear from you!

Mammals of Northeast Ohio

Where/When: Cuyahoga County Public Library , 6080 Wilson Mills Road, 2 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: Learn about the diversity of mammals in northeast Ohio with a naturalist from the Cleveland Metroparks – for children in kindergarten through fifth grade

Family Friday Night: A Leaf Lesson

Where/When: Cleveland Metroparks Nature Center, 6:30-8 p.m. Friday
Why Go: Bring a T-shirt or sweatshirt to decorate in leaf prints; look at fallen leaves and learn which trees they came from

Game Night at Mayfield Middle School

Where/When: Mayfield Middle School, 1123 SOM Center Rd., 6-8 p.m. Friday
Why Go: Play a variety of board games, volleyball, basketball and more and enjoy pizza, pop and chips – part of the adaptive recreation program
Price: $9 at door

Cub Scout Saturday: Forester

Where/When: Cleveland Metroparks North Chagrin Reservation Strawberry Picnic Area parking lot, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday
Why Go: Join naturalist Mindy Murdock to meet requirements for your forester badge

Family Fun Fest at the Farm

Where/When: Greenwood Farm, 264 Richmond Rd., Richmond Heights, 1-5 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: Tours of the house and property, a classic car display, live entertainment, critter corner with dog and cat rescue groups with pets for adoption and a book signing with Mary Ann Winkowski, author of Beyond Delicious: The Ghost Whisperer's Cookbook
