GATES MILLS, Ohio, February 18—On Wednesday, February 26 and Thursday, February 27 from 9-10 a.m. at the Gilmour Academy Lower School (located ¼ mile east of the Cedar and SOM Center Road intersection), Gilmour’s Montessori preschool program will host Parent Observation Days for prospective parents. Whether parents are exploring for fall 2014 or beyond, the Observation Days are a great way to meet the teachers and observe current students at work. To RSVP, contact Lois Boyer at (440) 473-8160 or email@example.com. Childcare is available during the event.
Gilmour’s Montessori preschool program begins with the Early Beginnings program for students ages 18-months- to 36-months-old. Half-day and full-day options are available. For 3-5-year-olds, there are two preschool and kindergarten classes. The 3- and 4-year-olds attend for a half-day with the option to stay for the extended day Montessori Prep program in the afternoon. The 5-year-olds spend a full kindergarten day in the Montessori program.
The Montessori program promotes self-directed learning, allowing children to learn at their own pace and in their own style, thereby fostering a lifelong love of learning. It utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach and teaches children how to learn instead of just what to learn. Gilmour’s Montessori program allows children to grow emotionally, cognitively and socially through real, lifelike interactions in a safe environment.
Current parent Matt Lindley says of his family’s Montessori experience at Gilmour, “My wife and I have been thrilled with the Montessori program.” He describes all the ways in which his two sons have blossomed academically, from one developing a love of reading, math and nature to the other finding a passion for the solar system.
Following kindergarten, students move seamlessly into Gilmour’s Lower School, where the small class sizes allow for individualized instruction using real-world resources, tools and technologies in a coed setting.
Gilmour Academy is a Catholic, independent, coeducational, college-preparatory school. It is sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross, Notre Dame, Ind., and offers a Montessori program beginning at 18-months-old and a Lower School, Middle School and Upper School. A boarding program is offered to students in Grades 7 through 12. It is located at 34001 Cedar Road in Gates Mills, Ohio.
