Taste of Italy Dinner Set for Feb. 11

Mayfield Heights Council approves request to allow minors to volunteer at event.

The fifth annual Taste of Italy will be Feb. 11 at the Ross DeJohn Community Center, 6306 Marsol Rd., Mayfield Heights.

Mayor Gregory Costabile said at Monday's City Council meeting that people should get tickets early.

"This event sells out immediately," he said. "You really need to call City Hall as soon as possible to get your tickets."

Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple and are available by calling the Recreation Department at 440-442-2626.

Also at the meeting, council approved a request to allow minors to volunteer at the event, at which there will be alcohol. Councilwoman Donna Finney voted against the motion, stating that it didn't make sense to pick which events minors can be at since no such approval is needed for private functions.

"That is just another reason I thought that the initial ordinance was so odd," Costabile said. "It might be something this council might want to look at because it doesn't make a lot of sense."
