Raccoon Sleeps on School Bus: Mayfield Heights Police Blotter

Incidents reported in late March:

Public urination: Two males were caught on camera urinating near the city pool shortly after 1 p.m. on March 31.

According to a police report, the males were advised of their indiscretions and told to leave the area.

Banging on windows: A manager at Famous Footwear at Golden Gate shopping plaza called Mayfield Heights Police at 6:39 p.m. March 30 to report a group of about six or seven teenagers loitering in front of the store, banging on the windows.

The manager said she had received several complaints about the teens before noticing any disturbances herself. They were later located in front of HH Gregg and told to leave. An officer later spoke to one of the teens' grandmothers about the incident.

Surprise sleeper: An officer checked on a bus parked at Mayfield Middle School just before 11 p.m. on March 31 because the lights were flashing and the door was open.

Upon arrival, the officer noticed a raccoon sleeping on the drivers seat. The officer spent about eight minutes on the scene and eventually the raccoon exited the bus.

The officer turned the lights off and closed the door and left a community policing card advising the school of the incident.
