Police Blotter: Santa Is No Longer Welcome at Store

A man dressed in a Santa outfit was handing out cards to children at a SOM Center Road store, making the manager uncomfortable because the jolly old elf was only talking to children. The manager called police at 4:19 p.m. Aug. 10 and an officer spoke to the suspect, who said he went to the store to buy a GPS unit and handed out cards to kids while he was there. He said he has been doing this for several years. Police told him that he needs to stop handing out cards at this store.
A woman flagged down a police officer at 2:19 p.m. Aug. 11 after she was approach in a Mayfield Road lot by a man in a purplish suit who said he found money and wanted her to help him find the owner. She thought this was suspicious.
An employee stole two DVDs and four video games at Toys R Us and the store called police at 12:58 p.m. Aug. 11 and wanted him prosecuted for the theft.
A man told police at 9:35 a.m. Aug. 11 that he was standing at the bus stop at Mayfield and Lander roads when a man in a blue car stopped at the traffic light. He said the man jumped out of his car, said he had something for him and hit him in the head. The suspect then got back into his car and drove away. Police said the victim decided not to file a report and got on a bus to leave the city.
A Marsol Road resident called police at 5:23 p.m. Aug. 10 and said items were taken from his car. He suspected new tenants in the building because he found some of his things on their patio.
An intoxicated woman who was drinking alcohol out of a slurpy cup was causing disturbance at 1:09 p.m. Aug. 10 at a SOM Center Road store. She left the store, but an officer found her in front of a deli and talked to her.
A man came to an Elmwood Road residence in a truck with ladders on top at 8:05 p.m. Aug. 10 and said he was sent by the landlord to inspect for hail damage. The resident checked and said the landlord did not give anyone such permission. Police were unable to find the man.
