Police Blotter: Gunshot Victim Rushed to Hospital

A driver ran through several red lights with a gunshot victim while speeding to Hillcrest Hospital according to the Lyndhurst Police in the late morning on July 21. An officer said it was an accidental shooting that happened on Harwood Rd. in South Euclid. The weapon that was used was in the vehicle and was confiscated by Mayfield Heights police in the hospital’s emergency facilities. South Euclid police arrived at the hospital to meet with local police.

Dog left in car: A woman was cited for cruelty to animals for leaving her dog in the car at Costco the afternoon of July 22. A caller said the dog was locked in the car with the windows cracked open in a green Aurora but looked to be in distress. The car had been sitting for a half an hour. The owner returned and was cited.

Shoplifter caught: A female shoplifter was busted for stealing from CVS/Pharmacy the afternoon of July 22. The shoplifter attempted to walk away from an employee with a bag of stolen merchandise, but the employee was able to retrieve the bag. The employee didn’t want to press charges. The woman walked to the Lube Stop wearing jean shorts and a black shirt. An officer caught up with her and ran a photo ID check that didn’t identify her, but she was taken into custody.

Wedding scuffle: A woman reported being assaulted by another woman while attending a wedding at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven the evening of July 21. The woman was arrested for assault. While in custody, the woman required an ibuprofen for tooth pain and was released July 23.

Rental scam: A Mayfield Heights man staying in New York claimed he was scammed out of $1,400 on Craig’s List for renting on an apartment for which there wasn’t a rental record the afternoon of July 22. He believes the man who scammed him is a Mayfield Heights resident. The man was advised to contact his hometown police department to file a report.

Animal death: A baby deer was struck and killed on Lander Rd. after a vehicle hit it on the evening of July 22. The deer was still alive at the time of the initial call but died as the police arrived. No damage was visible on the vehicle.

Signs stolen: An owner of Miklus Florists said he posted “No Trespassing” signs on the property last week but reported the afternoon of July 21 that someone had taken them down. The owner thought that juveniles in the area were responsible and wanted special attention paid to the area.

Van rear-ended: A White Ford van was rear-ended while transporting a handicapped passenger at Cork & Bottle the afternoon of July 20. It was believed the passenger wasn’t injured but shaken up. The driver said a silver Ford hit his van.

Busted at Walmart: A man was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart on the afternoon of July 20.
