If nothing else, the Mayfield Wildcats football team will certainly make its weight requirements after sweating out in the heat and humidity after the first week of two-a-day practices.

In fact, it’s been so hot that the team is conducting its practices at the high school between 7 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. without a real afternoon session as would’ve normally been the case, according to the school’s athletic office.

The Mayfield Wildcats are attempting to bounce back from its second consecutive 6-4 season without a playoff berth and open the season at Nordonia on Aug. 24. Coach Larry Pinto will lead the team for the 15^th straight season and likes what he’s seen so far.

Here are a few glimpses of what the fellas have been up to in preparation for another big season.
