Team Nautilus makes a big splash.

Mayfield students put on a spectacular Science Showcase Tuesday night at the high school.

Kindergartners through 12th graders involved others as they explored the many aspects of science. As always, the Senior Cardboard Boat Regatta made a splash. Other projects dealt with biology, chemistry and physics. Each grade was able to get involved in science and learn something new.

The Science Showcase at Mayfield High School was a fantastic entertaining and educational event for all ages- and I hope to see it done again next year. It is inspiring to the younger generation of children, and I feel even many adults with their kids learned a little from this enriching experience. I was one of the helpers at the Science Olympiad showcase in the gym, and I wanted to thank all those adults and participants that helped coordinate or came that made the display a great success. Science Olymiad has been for many years a fantastic legacy for growth and learning in sciences at Mayfield High School, and I couldn't say enough how proud I am to be a part of it- and glad we could show others exactly what we are all about.
I am particularly proud of my event 'Sounds of Music'. I have always been fascinated by how an instrument works, having played several myself, and though this competition I have been given the opportunity to not only construct this xylophone (with the help of two persistent adults,) but learn about the standard physics happening behind the scenes, as well as explain it to a multitude of different people of all ages at this event. I hope I have expanded the learning and sparked the interest of new avid learners, and hope to do well at our next competition individually, and a team as a whole. If you have any questions about how this instrument works, or want more information about this competition, feel free to email me at 24lepickner@gmail.com

Thanks for sharing. I think the Science Showcase is firmly entrenched as an annual event.
