Hillcrest Hospital Receives American Heart Association Award
The award recognizes the hospital's compliance with national stroke guidelines
Hillcrest Hospital has received an award from a national organization for its treatment of stroke patients.
The American Heart Association recently gave Hillcrest its "Get With The Guidelines - Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement" for its compliance with national guidelines in providing high-quality care and treatment to those who suffer strokes.
"Get With The Guidelines - Stroke helps Hillcrest Hospital’s staff develop and implement acute and secondary prevention strategies to improve patient care and outcomes," according to a hospital statement. "The quick and efficient use of guideline procedures can improve the quality of care for stroke patients and may reduce disability and save lives."
Hillcrest was also named a "Target: Stroke Honor Roll" recipient.
According to the AHA, someone in the U.S. suffers a stroke every 40 seconds; someone dies of a stroke every four minutes; and 795,000 people suffer a new or recurrent stroke each year.
