Highland Heights Awards Summer Road Construction Projects
City kicks off summer of road repairs, approves manhole construction projects.
The City of Highland Heights awarded bids for summer road projects and manhole construction and appointed a new finance director at its city council meeting on Tuesday night.
Specialized Construction had its bid of $599,620 approved for the city’s 2012 road program for repairs. The road work will involve concrete and asphalt overlay work on Castlehill and Whiteford Drives. The company will also perform asphalt patchwork on Miner and Highland Roads.
City Hall’s main parking lot will receive in-place asphalt recycling and be topped.
Monte Construction will build three manholes on the south side of Millridge Road for $12,020 which could be reduced $1,500 because of contingencies, according to Frank Legan, councilman at large and chairman of the drainage committee. Legan hopes the work will be completed before school begins.
Other items council approved:
- A lot split for the property at 5612 Wilson Mills Road
- A pay ordinance for new finance director Filippo and Community Center Coordinator Gina Bissel
- The annual street lightning repair assessment
- A payment of $36,435 to the Mayfield City School District for the community reinvestment area, urban jobs and enterprise zone programs.
