Hawken Girls Win 15th Straight State Swimming Title
The lady Hawks broke records and finished first in four events
State championships are clearly the standard for Hawken's swimming program.
The girls team won its 15th consecutive state championship, its 23rd in Hawken School history.
According to an OHSAA report from the tournament, senior Carrie Bencic paced the Hawks with a new state record in the 200 yard freestyle with a 1:48.22 time. She won back-to-back titles in that event as well as the 500 yard freestyle.

Carrie was also on Hawken's championship 200 yard freestyle relay team, which set a new state record time of 1:34.99. Seniors Sarah Koucheki, Marissa Cominelli and Caroline Vexler were also on that team.
Hawken earned another title in the final event, the 400 yard freestyle relay, when freshmen Claire Doerr and Heather Svitavsky joined Carrie and Sarah in defending the school's 2012 title with a time of 3:28.90.

The Hawken boys swim team finished an third at the meet, behind University School and winner Dayton Oakwood.
Only St. Xavier boys swimming (33) and St. Edward wrestling (27) have won more state championships than Hawken's girls swimming team.
