E-Recycle Drive Sunday at Highland Heights Community Park

Small appliances, computers, cell phones among items collected.

It's a good time to do some spring cleaning – old toaster ovens, computers, fans, microwaves and more can be taken to the E-Cycle Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Highland Heights Community Park.

There is no residency requirement to drop off items at the event, sponsored by the Highland Heights Green Task Force.

"It's all about diverting these from landfills," said Judy Dearden, task force president. "This is providing people an outlet."

There are charges for some items:
• $5 for computer monitors
• $20 for televisions up to 30 inches
• $40 for TVs 31 inches and more
• $50 for console TVs

"They had lead in them and they have to go into a special recycling facility," Dearden said.

Other items collected free include cell phones, power strips and surge protectors. Data on computer hard drives will be securely destroyed.
