Critter Corner: PAWS Reaches Out to Mayfield and Hillcrest Community

Dogs and cats are in the lime light at PetSmart

Luke is not a pure-bred Lab, but he acts like one. He is smart, loves to interact with people, goes for high energy walks, plays in the yard and looks at life from an optimistic tail-wagging point of view. This 2-year-old pup is house broken, invisible fence trained and up for adoption.

"If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all ..." is a  refrain stray animals know too well. Thanks to PAWS volunteers, these animals are wagging and purring to a different tune. The past is long behind them and these lucky dogs and cats are healthy, happy and looking for forever homes.

Despite a temporary power outage in Golden Gate Plaza on Saturday afternoon there was lots of interest at PetSmart in adoptions and volunteering. It was also a chance for PAWS "alumni parents" to run into old friends and brag about how well their "fur-kids" are doing.

For more information about any of these pets (remember they are being fostered in a people's homes and have a chance to interact with adults, kids and other pets), or to learn about volunteer opportunities reach out a hand to PAWS.

About this column: Critter Corner will focus on area animal shelters and rescue groups and the pets they have up for adoption. Related Topics: Animal Adoption, Critter Corner, PAWS, and Petsmart
